About Prince of Peace Lutheran Church
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church is a vibrant congregation that has served La Crescent, MN and surrounding small towns in Houston County since 1959. We are a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America denomination, known for its tagline "God's Work, Our Hands." We believe that God is reconciling and restoring our wounded and weary world, beckoning us to participate through lives that reflect Jesus's humility, generosity, and love.
Prince of Peace is a blend of traditions with ever-evolving ways to connect with God and one another. In worship, we learn how to be God's people together through song and prayer. With openness and creativity, we help one another encounter the living God. We have fun, celebrate beauty, and remind one another of our belovedness in God's community of faith.
The members of Prince of Peace strive to be people who are "rooted in the Word, inspired by the Cross, making God visible by welcoming, sharing, and serving" (Prince of Peace Mission Statement). We value life-long learning that challenges us beyond easy answers and assumptions. Our members are engaged in many aspects of civic life, living out their faith through service and kindness to their neighbors, seeking the common good. Children and youth are especially valued at Prince of Peace, not because they are the future of the church, but because they are present, here and now.
