Director of Finance (S0372), Durango Integrated Healthcare, Durango, CO
Position Summary: The Finance Director manages various high-level accounting, budgeting, costing and reporting functions, ensuring that job functions are done accurately and in a timely manner. Oversight of the planning, organization and implementation of procedures to effectively manage accounting functions related to financial statements, accounts payable, cash and cash management, all in accordance with accepted accounting and auditing standards.
Qualifications: Our ideal Finance Director will have:

  • Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in performing accounting functions including general ledger, with specific experience in financial analysis, cash management, budgeting, and auditing.
  • Minimum 5 years in accounting supervision.
  • Minimum of three years in non-profit healthcare.
  • Understanding of GAAP and its application to internal accounting practices and procedures.
  • Preferred:
  • Master's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • CPA or CMA licensure.
Salary:
Starting pay is $83,200.00 - $97,344.00 per hour (which includes preferred experience and preferred education described above)

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for oversight and daily operations, standards and controls in the Accounting Department, including processes to ensure accurate account reconciliations are performed monthly.
  • Design appropriate workflows, documentation, data collection and reporting.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures for internal controls and efficiencies.
  • Assist with the annual audit process both by external auditing firm and other auditors in accordance with GAAP and healthcare and nonprofit audit standards.
  • Direct monthly account reconciliation process for accounts.
  • Create and maintain accurate cash flow projections to facilitate strategic decision making and monitoring.
  • Monitors both expenditures and revenues to ensure adherence with established budget goals and objectives annually.
  • Act as a resource for all managers and staff regarding financial transactions, effectively managing questions, concerns and problem resolution.
  • Prepare special accounting, financial, and managerial reports.
  • Conduct internal audits as requested by management, creating an audible file with recommendations and findings.
  • Maintain an analysis of investment activity and make recommendations regarding the investment options that will maximize performance.

  • Understanding of interdepartmental processes within healthcare organizations.
  • Proficiency in data-driven decision-making and tools like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Commitment to staying current with healthcare quality trends and advancements.
  • Familiarity with healthcare quality measures, including Patient Centered Medical Home standards.
  • Expertise in managing change and addressing resistance to new processes.
  • Ability to analyze complex quality measures and workflows to drive improvements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build trust and influence stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, oral, analytical, and abstract reasoning skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Must treat work as confidential and proprietary.
  • Must have current driver's license and ability to be commercially insured and maintain a driving record that allows insurability with Axis commercial insurance agency.

Working Conditions/Physical demands:
  • Employees must occasionally lift and/or move 15 to 50 pounds. Employees are frequently required to walk, sit, stand or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have ability to sit for long periods of time at computer.
  • Employees must be able to travel between Axis locations. Depending on the position, employee may also be expected to engage in occasional statewide and domestic travel.
  • Working in a healthcare organization lends itself to the possibility of exposure to communicable disease.
  • Noise level in the working environment is usually moderate.
  • Annual Flu immunization by November 1, annual TB Screening, complete de-escalation training, and BLS certification, as required for position.
