Description

The Director of Finance will ensure quality of financial transactions and reporting, develop our financial well-being and play a leading role in financial decision-making. This position will assist the CFO with strategic financial input and oversee the overall financial processes. This position will ensure accuracy in all our financial activities in accordance with GAAP and Contracted requirements.

Essential Functions/Job Requirements:

  • Develop and forecast budgets under direction of CFO.
  • Implement finance and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Determine effect of potential business decisions on financial policy.
  • Assist with preparing agency budgets and reports for submission for grants and programs.
  • Cooperate with program units and support functions across organization.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Oversee monthly bank statement reconciliation.
  • Prepare timely financial statements with reporting variances monthly.
  • Prepare payroll for transmission to the payroll company and maintain all payroll records for 401k.
  • Tracking and retention of documentation for capital additions; preparation of monthly depreciation.
  • Oversee the compliance of all grants and contracts.
  • Review work and provide supervision to the Accounting Manager
  • Ensure compliance with organization and State/City statutory requirements for external audit and tax filing process.
  • Coordinate audit processes under direction of CFO.
  • Other projects as assigned
Knowledge and Expertise:
  • A minimum of a BS or equivalent experience
  • Five years of non-profit experience and five (5) years of hands-on Accounting (audit, accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting).
  • Proficiency with Oracle NetSuite (or similar) accounting software including generating & designing reports and general ledger maintenance.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Outstanding knowledge and understanding of applicable grant regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to provide financial projections
  • Must have excellent analytical skills and effective communication
  • Must have GAAP/FASB understanding of accounting regulations
  • Must be a self-starter, project oriented and a problem solver with strong system and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in payroll software systems
  • Proficiency with CRM systems
  • Flexibility and the ability to work collaboratively across all departments \xe2\x80\x93 strong communication skills are a must
Preferred:
  • Experience in managing high invoice volumes or multi-entity accounting.
  • Familiarity and interest in mission-based, nonprofit, and/or arts and cultural organizations.
  • Knowledge of NetSuite Database and Paylocity
