Job Description

Oversees daily upkeep, leads the engineering team, manages preventive maintenance, handles guest requests, coordinates contractors, controls inventory, and ensures health/safety compliance for all hotel property, grounds, and machinery, reporting to the General Manager to keep everything running smoothly and guests happy.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

Supervise maintenance staff, schedule work, provide training, and foster positive relationships across departments.

Maintenance Operations:

Direct daily corrective/preventative maintenance, troubleshoot issues in guest rooms/public areas, and manage groundskeeping.

Safety & Compliance:

Implement and enforce health/safety protocols, ensure adherence to regulations, and manage safety programs.

Guest Satisfaction:

Respond to guest maintenance requests promptly, ensuring high satisfaction levels.

Inventory & Budget:

Manage maintenance supply inventory, procurement, and assist the manager with budget tracking.

Contractor Management:

Coordinate and monitor outside contractors for specialized work.

Reporting:

Prepare maintenance activity reports and suggest improvements.

Essential Skills:

Leadership, problem-solving, and strong communication (verbal/written). Proficiency with maintenance software and basic computer skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends/holidays. Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems (MEP).
Assists in supervising of the staff in the Maintenance Department.
Responsible for Health and Safety regulations within the department
Ensures that all plant and machinery is maintained in accordance with the Preventative Maintenance Schedule.
Identifies training needs of staff in the department and trains where necessary.
Monitors the level and quality of services performed by outside contractors in accordance with all lease agreements, service contracts, and warranties.
