Essential Criteria:
10+ years of experience in R&D, innovation, or advanced technology roles, preferably in a product-focused organization
Experience leading technical teams through ideation, prototyping, and deployment of advanced solutions
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Deep technical expertise in at least one of the following: AI/ML, computer vision, embedded systems, robotics, or edge computing
Strong strategic thinking, with the ability to align innovation with business priorities
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a track record of building high-performance teams
Experience with design for manufacturability and taking prototypes into production preferred
Innovative problem-solving with a team-oriented mindset
Plan a project and execute to achieve results
Evaluate Team Member performance and motivate Team Members
Research and learn new technologies
Strong analytical skills
Ability to analyze and solve complex problems
Excellent aptitude in electronics, firmware, and software
Attention to accuracy and detail
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Basic electronic manufacturing knowledge and strong business operations knowledge
Familiarity with Musco solutions is a plus
Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary Emerging Technologies Team focused on research, prototyping, and commercialization of next-generation technologies
Identify, evaluate, and validate emerging technologies and trends that can enhance Musco's products and solutions
Guide ideas from proof of concept through feasibility into scalable pilot implementations
Work with internal team (Sales, Marketing, etc.) to develop plans to test Market feasibility
Create and assign yearly and quarterly goals for the team and evaluate team performance on the same schedule through structured reviews
Develop and manage the budget and oversee salary planning for direct and indirect reports
Partner closely with product, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure alignment and seamless handoff of maturing technologies for deployment
Oversee investigation and resolution of product issues identified in development, testing, production, or in the field
Maintain a strong pulse on the external tech landscape and cultivate partnerships with research institutions, startups, and technology vendors
Advocate for customer-centric innovation by engaging with internal stakeholders and end users to identify real-world problems that can be solved through advanced technology
