Job Description

Position Profile:





Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, the Director of Development will clearly articulate and promote a strong case of need for philanthropy and builds opportunities to create and sustain a culture that understands the relationship between philanthropy and carrying out the Mission of the communities of Illinois Presbyterian Home.


Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:




FUNDRAISING

: plan, implement, and evaluate fundraising campaigns and activities.


Create solicitation materials Establish timeline for regular 'Asks' Identify and steward prospective donors Set up and manage donor database for gift recognition/documentation Manage a budget for fundraising expense/income programs Stay on top of fundraising trends and the nonprofit community

MARKETING:

communicate with donors, volunteers, residents/families, staff, and the public


Draft and publish regularly scheduled newsletters - hard copy and e-version Create E-blasts and personalized emails Work with Website developers Utilize and manage Social Media Support Advertising efforts and Seek Marketing Appearances Present informational programs in churches and other public settings

VOLUNTEERISM:

recruit, retain and recognize volunteers


Seek volunteers to assist with identified project needs and activities Provide resources and management of work projects when volunteers are on the property Document value of volunteer contributions versus paid labor

Skills/Work Environment:




Demonstrates and maintain a positive professional manner, manages time efficiently and effectively, promotes a team approach, participates in appropriate problem solving methods. With respect to resident rights, ensures all care is provided with respect and dignity for residents, reports all complaints made by residents and or families to supervisor, reports all allegations of abuse, misappropriation of funds/resident property, or any other compliance items immediately. May be requested to work on shifts other than the one for which you were hired and subject to call-back during emergency conditions. Maintain confidentiality and discretion when dealing with sensitive information about residents, family, employees, and IPH residence. Must enjoy working with the senior population. Perform job duties in a manner that aligns with the IPH mission of providing a gracious senior living in a Christian surrounding. Demonstrate good interpersonal teamwork and communication skills.

Education:




Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of related experience and training. Must have valid drivers' license and clean DMV record.

Physical Demands:




Capable of walking long distances, lifting, and carrying weight up to 30 pounds Must be free from infection or disease Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations

Mental Demands:




Ability to understand vague to implicit instructions and react favorably in all work situations. Ability to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under time restraints. Must handle novel and diverse work problems on a daily basis. Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people. Ability to provide verbal feedback in a professional manner. * Emotional stability and personal maturity are important attributes in this position.
