Job Description


Responsible for leadership, strategy, and oversight of education created at MedStar SiTEL, including supervision of highly experienced associates and managers. Serves as the champion for innovative and transformational learning experiences that target MedStar Health\'s system-wide priorities such as quality, safety and risk-reduction initiatives. Develops and implements processes and strategies to improve the learning experience for all associates across MedStar Health in both clinical and non-clinical domains.
Education

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Education, Psychology, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Content Development, or a related field required
  • Master\'s degree preferred
Experience
  • 5-7 years 6 years of experience in education or content development with a proven track record of outstanding performance increasing responsibility in supervising and managing others, and developing and implementing strategic plans required and
  • Evidence of solid career progression in the field of learning, including significant experience in designing and delivering learning solutions to a diverse group of learners required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of and experience with tools for creating learning experiences.
  • Knowledge of new and innovative learning technologies.
  • Demonstrates initiative, problem-solving, and innovative thinking.
  • Ability to multi-task and balance multiple ongoing projects within specified timelines while simultaneously meeting aggressive deadlines.
  • Knowledge of typical office tools (Microsoft Office, Google Apps, etc.).
  • Develops and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental/accreditation regulations.
  • Builds, develops and grows business relationships (both internal and external to MedStar Health) vital to the success of projects.
  • Collaborates directly with the MedStar SiTEL Senior Directors to develop a strategic plan and infrastructure to provide ongoing learning recommendations for MedStar Health\'s system-wide learning initiatives.
  • Collaborates with the Senior Directors to research, pilot, and implement the most innovative educational technology solutions and learning modalities in the industry.
  • Communicates project expectations to team members effectively and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion. Acts as liaison with high-level project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Deploys and assigns learning experience design resources as needed to MedStar SiTEL projects as appropriate to individual\'s skill sets and organizational goals and needs.
  • Develops and expands the reputation of MedStar Health and MedStar SiTEL as a national leader in innovative healthcare education and training by participating in local, regional, national and international activities (presenting at conferences, writing for various learning organizations, serving on committees, participating in forums, etc.).
  • Formulates a vision and strategic plan for infusing learning experience design across all service lines of MedStar SiTEL and in all educational experiences created by MedStar SiTEL, and in collaboration with Senior Directors, implements and provides oversight for this strategic plan.
  • Invests multiple internal and external key stakeholders and works collaboratively with SiTEL Director, SiTEL Managing Director, digital media specialists, clinical educators, clinical simulation specialists, project managers, software developers, researchers etc. to create and deliver high-quality educational experiences.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, training, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in the field of learning and design.
  • Oversees the development of MedStar SiTEL\'s learning principles and ensures consistent implementation of those principles across learning experience workstreams and product deliverables.
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and professionally develops education professionals for MedStar SiTEL. Represents the learning experience and instructional design teams in senior leadership meetings and on enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Researches additional learning technologies and modalities to broaden the portfolio of learning and instructional design solutions offered by MedStar SiTEL (including but not limited to mobile learning, responsive design, user experience design, performance support, just-in-time training, content management, and other innovative learning technologies).
  • Responsible for management and supervision of all learning experience and educational design staff. Coaches, mentors, motivates and supervises team members.
  • Serves as a member of the SiTEL leadership team and advises senior leaders and division directors in learning development.
  • Supports the individual growth and professional development needs of managers and education professionals through strategic planning and ongoing interaction.
  • Supports the programmatic goals of the department and the organization as a whole.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and business unit in community outreach efforts. Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams and maintains effective working relationships with other departments.
