Job Description

Summary: The Director of Facilities has the overall responsibility for direct oversight of facility maintenance, landscape and janitorial services. This position oversees all aspects of the campus(es) corresponding with vendors, planning maintenance work, maintaining records, and supervising facilities staff.
Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day maintenance and operations of buildings and grounds; including new buildings and modification/improvements and repairs and maintenance (scheduled/deferred and preventative) of existing buildings; sustainability programs; building management systems, including mechanical system controls.
• Provide input in the assessment, planning and implementation of the Facilities Master Plan, Five Year Construction Plan, Scheduled Maintenance and Special Repairs plan, sustainability plan, stormwater management plan, and other facilities planning efforts.
• Plan, organize, coordinate and/or direct regulatory compliance with several outside agencies, such as AQMD, Fish and Game, Health Department, Fire Department, State and Regional Water Resources Board, Department of Toxic Substances, Integrated Waste Management Board, city and county agencies and other applicable state, federal and environmental agencies
• To evaluate, plan, organize, and direct the construction, modification, repair, maintenance, and operations of the buildings and grounds, including but not limited to, classrooms, laboratories, dormitories, offices, athletic and recreational areas, landscaping, parking lots, and other facilities for the university.
• Recommend, develop and implement energy management and cost savings programs by enhancing systems to run more cost efficiently to reduce operating and maintenance costs
• Assist in annual program budgets; prepare recommendations and justifications regarding budget requests.
• May attend meetings and provide assistance on behalf of the Vice President, University Operations.
• Provide leadership to effectively and efficiently manage college resources to maximize achievement of strategic outcomes.
• Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position and the University's mission and philosophy

• Advanced knowledge of site planning and building codes, ADA, OSAA and other related construction regulations.
• Superior ability to investigate and analyze campus-planning information and to draw conclusions.

• Demonstrated knowledge in the arenas of planning and urban design, sustainability, space planning, site design and/or landscape architecture.

• Developed oral, text, graphics, visuals, formal and informal communication skills.

• Advanced design management skills. Ability to directly subordinates and consulting teams on site development matters.
• Demonstrated ability to provide training, guidance, and operational support to lower level staff within an area of specialty.

Full Time Staff, Exempt
$90,000/yr
