  • The Director of Commercial Lending Credit Risk is responsible for identifying and mitigating risks associated with commercial lending activities.
  • Ensure that the credit risk of the Global Merchant Lending (GML) programs leveraging financial statement analysis, is managed effectively and efficiently.
Your way to impact
  • This position will directly impact the GML business by delivering a new set of capabilities that will enable overall growth of the commercial lending portfolios, while effectively managing credit risk.
  • The core objective is to deliver credit risk strategies based on leveraging bank statements, income statements, and balance sheet statements in both a systemic and manual underwriting environments.
  • You will report directly to the Senior Director of GML Credit Risk under the VP - Chief Credit Risk Officer
  • The GML Credit Risk team directly supports the GML Business Unit and other relevant key stakeholders across PayPal\'s Consumer, Merchant, Credit, and Payments Business Units.
Your day-to-day
  • Develop, implement, and maintain credit risk management policies and procedures for commercial lending activities.
  • Review and analyze commercial loan applications and financial statements to assess creditworthiness and identify potential risks.
  • Work closely with the credit department to establish appropriate credit limits, terms, and conditions for commercial loans.
  • Monitor the credit quality of the commercial loan portfolio and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that credit risk management practices are integrated into business processes.
  • Provide training and support to staff members on credit risk management practices and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, such as regulators, credit rating agencies, and industry associations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and prepare reports for senior management and the board of directors.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging risks related to commercial lending.
What do you need to bring
  • A bachelor\'s or master\'s degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree; or 12 years and a Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree; or a PhD with 8 years experience; or equivalent experience. Significant barriers to entry (e.g., top management review, approval) exist at this level.
  • Several years of experience in commercial lending, credit risk management, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of financial markets, credit risk analysis, and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with financial modeling and risk management software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional certifications, such as the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Credit Professional (CCP), or Risk Management Association (RMA) certification, may be an advantage.
