Director, Clinical Pharmacy Services

As part of this role, you will:




Provide leadership and direction to the clinical pharmacy team, including clinical pharmacists and pharmacy technicians Develop and implement strategic plans for the clinical pharmacy department Oversee the budget and financial management of the clinical pharmacy services Develop and implement clinical pharmacy programs that optimize medication therapy and improve patient outcomes Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurses, to ensure comprehensive patient care Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of clinical pharmacy programs and make necessary improvements Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices in medication management Develop and implement quality assurance and patient safety initiatives Investigate and resolve medication-related incidents and adverse drug events Provide training and education to clinical pharmacy staff, as well as other healthcare professionals, on medication-related topics Stay updated on the latest developments in pharmacy practice and disseminate this knowledge to the team
Oversee the development and maintenance of the hospital's formulary
Collaborate with the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) committee to make formulary decisions Ensure appropriate medication utilization and cost-effective drug therapy Ensure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy regulations and standards Maintain and update policies and procedures related to clinical pharmacy services Conduct performance evaluations of clinical pharmacy staff and provide feedback and development opportunities Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the department's effectiveness

REQUIREMENTS & PREFERENCES:




Education:



Doctor of Pharmacy degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college or university required Significant knowledge and expertise in advanced pharmacy practice and evidence based medicine in areas appropriate for clinical assignment preferred Experience working with diverse teams, managing major initiatives preferred

Experience:



5+ years of clinical experience in a pharmacy setting required 340b knowledge preferred FQHC experience preferred Knowledge of HIV disease and other chronic disease states preferred

Certification/Licensure:



Current and valid Florida Pharmacist license required Certified to Administer Immunizations as expressed on the Pharmacist license required Current and valid CPR/BLS certification required Current and valid Florida Consultant Pharmacist license preferred

POSITION SUMMARY:



The Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services is responsible for the leadership, direction, and coordination of clinical pharmacy services. This includes establishing, promoting, and

continuously monitoring/evaluating the goals and outcomes while achieving alignment with our vision and metrics. They will develop policies and procedures, implement quality improvement initiatives, and establish activities to ensure the provision of safe, effective, and economical pharmacotherapy. In addition, they will collaborate with other healthcare professionals, involved in various clinical care activities and medication management initiatives for chronic care conditions including but not limited to HIV, Hepatitis C, metabolic syndrome, anticoagulation therapy, and behavioral health. This position will lead Clinical Pharmacy Specialists and related staff to expand, integrate, and sustain clinical services.
