Director, CFO Services

Summary of Position

The Director, CFO Services will be a highly experienced and strategic leader responsible for providing outsourced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and high-level financial advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients, primarily across the mid-market. This role is a key client-facing position, requiring the ability to manage complex financial operations, drive strategic planning, and enhance client profitability and performance. The Director will lead engagements, manage a team of financial professionals, and act as a trusted executive advisor to client CEOs and Boards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Financial Leadership & Advisory

Act as the

Fractional/Interim CFO

for assigned client companies, providing executive-level financial leadership and insight. Develop and implement strategic

financial planning and analysis (FP&A)

, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and capital expenditure planning. Guide clients through critical financial events such as financing rounds, mergers & acquisitions (M&A), due diligence, and exit planning. Establish and monitor key financial and operational

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

to drive data-informed decision-making and measure business performance.
2. Financial Operations and Reporting

Oversee the establishment, improvement, and maintenance of robust

internal controls, financial reporting systems, and accounting policies

(GAAP or IFRS compliance). Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual

financial statements and management reports

. Manage relationships with external parties, including auditors, tax preparers, bankers, and legal counsel. Identify opportunities for

process optimization and cost reduction

within client finance and accounting departments.
3. Client Management and Business Development

Manage the execution of multiple client engagements concurrently, ensuring high quality of service delivery and client satisfaction. Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with client executives, serving as the primary financial liaison. Contribute to the firm's growth by identifying new business opportunities, preparing proposals, and participating in sales presentations for CFO Services.
4. Team Leadership and Development

Mentor, coach, and manage a team of Associates, Managers, and Senior Accountants assigned to client engagements. Manage engagement profitability, budgets, and resource allocation to meet delivery timelines and fee expectations.
Qualifications

Required

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree (MBA) strongly preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of

8+ years

of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least

3 years

as a CFO, VP of Finance, or Director of Finance. Experience in professional services or fractional/interim CFO roles serving multiple clients is highly desirable.

Certifications:

CPA certification

is highly preferred; relevant certifications such as CMA, CVA, or CFE will also be considered.

Technical Expertise:

Expert knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP), corporate finance, and complex financial modeling.

Leadership Skills:

Proven track record of leading teams, managing client relationships at the executive level, and driving strategic initiatives.

Communication:

Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.

Software Proficiency:

Advanced proficiency in financial planning software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.
Preferred

Experience across multiple industries (e.g., Technology, Manufacturing, Services, Private Equity portfolio companies). Deep understanding of private company financial management and reporting. Proven success in building and scaling finance departments for high-growth businesses.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
