Summary

Bridging Gapss is a compassionate community-based organization committed to empowering children and families with emotional, mental, and physical support. As a certified provider of the Children's Long-Term Support (CLTS) waiver program, our mission is to help children with disabilities live fulfilling lives in their homes and communities.

We are seeking a reliable and nurturing Direct Support Professional to join our team on a 1099 contract basis. The purpose of this position is to provide short-term, temporary relief to primary caregivers by supporting children and youth with disabilities in a safe and engaging environment within the home or community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are typical for this position. Other duties may be assigned:

Provide safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate care for children and youth with disabilities. Supervise and interact with children in a positive, supportive manner. Assist with activities of daily living as needed, such as feeding, dressing, and mobility support. Create a calm and structured environment that aligns with the child's individual care plan. Communicate effectively with families and report any concerns or changes in behavior. Support children in community integration activities as appropriate (e.g., going to the park, events, etc.). Maintain accurate documentation of respite services provided, including time logs and progress notes. Promote independence and self-determination in youth through respectful and encouraging support. Ensure the safety and well-being of the child at all times. Follow all HIPAA, agency policies, and CLTS program guidelines.

Minimum Training and Experience

High School Diploma or GED required. At least 1 year of experience working with children or individuals with disabilities preferred. Background in caregiving, child development, special education, or social services is a plus.

Licensure and Requirements

Must be 18 years or older. Valid driver's license and auto insurance required. Must pass caregiver background check and any state-mandated training.

Supervision

This position does not supervise others.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift, move, or assist with mobility (up to 30 lbs). Frequent standing, walking, bending, and playing with children. Travel for in-home or community-based services is required.

Work Environment

Work takes place in family homes or community settings. May involve exposure to unpredictable environments or behaviors. Evening and weekend availability may be needed based on family needs.
