Job Overview

Hamaspik of Kings County is seeking compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide Thursday and weekend support for a 22-year-old individual with autism living in Manhattan. This self-hire position focuses on helping the individual build independence, develop life skills, and maintain a safe and meaningful daily routine. Responsibilities

Provide 1-1 Thursday and weekend support to a 22-year-old individual with autism Engage the individual in social activities and community outings to promote socialization, communication, and mental well-being. Encourage independence through teaching, modeling, and assisting with daily living skills Support the individual in maintaining a safe environment within the community Follow any care plans, behavior plans, or safety guidelines provided by the family or by Hamaspik Accompany the individual during approved activities, outings, and appointments Help build confidence and independence in navigating community settings Report progress, concerns, and observations to the family and Hamaspik as needed Complete required training and maintain compliance with agency guidelines Maintain a supportive, positive presence - even without supervision or recognition

Requirements

No Degree Required Must be able to work on Thursdays and on Weekends in Manhattan Must be caring, dependable, and motivated to support individuals with developmental disabilities Must meet Hamaspik of Kings County onboarding requirements and training as required by the organization Good communication skills and ability to maintain professional boundaries
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 21.0 per week
