We are looking for positive, caring and compassionate people to support clients in the Fairfax area, in a residential/Home setting. The Direct Support Professional will be supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Candidates must be flexible with start and end times of shifts. - Providing assistance to the adults/children within their home in such areas as feeding, toileting and elimination, nutritional intake, physical care, and daily activities.
- Administer medication and document it properly on the Medication Administration Records.
- Monitor the person being supported to ensure safety in all aspects of their lives (medical, health, behavioral)
- Assist the individual with ambulation, transfers and/or range of motion exercises.
- Promote a safe environment for Individual.
- Utilizes infection control measures such as hand washing and personal protective equipment.
- Observes and reports safety hazards and changes in resident condition to Supervisor.
- Accompanying individual to outings/ doctors appointments
- Documents observations and activities in an accurate, complete and timely manner.
- May have access to personal health information (\xe2\x80\x9cPHI\xe2\x80\x9d) necessary to fulfill the above duties and responsibilities. Access to use and ability to disclose PHI is further defined by each organization/department.
- Direct Support Certified Training (DSP)
- Up to dated CPR/First Aid.
- CNA background
- High school degree or equivalent education/experience.
- Must pass all background checks.
- Excellent oral and communication skills.
- Computer Savvy (experience with using computers for documenting/data).
- Must be able to lift 50-100 pounds and be capable of kneeling on the floor to aid individuals
Experience:
- Training in patient total care
- Medication Reminders
