Job Description

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Tesh, you'll support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in reaching greater independence, building skills, and engaging in their community. Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide support both at our Coeur d'Alene center and within the community. Their work focuses on helping participants develop and maintain the skills needed to lead self-directed, fulfilling lives. DSPs implement individualized program plans under the guidance of a Developmental Specialist, promoting personal growth, independence, and meaningful community inclusion.

Teach and promote essential life skills--such as communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and self-advocacy--to support each participant's independence and personal goals. Encourage and facilitate participation in social, recreational, and vocational activities within the program and the broader community. Model person-centered approaches, positive behavior supports, and respect for dignity in all interactions. Follow staff schedules to ensure participant safety during transitions, breaks, meals, and classes; provide personal assistance as needed (e.g., clothing changes, clean-up, etc.). Observe, document, and report participant progress, behaviors, and any incidents or changes in health, maintaining confidentiality at all times. Identify and respond appropriately to crises, implementing interventions and contacting necessary supports. Maintain accurate daily data and submit records promptly. Collaborate with colleagues, families, guardians, and service providers to ensure coordinated and effective support. Foster an inclusive environment that values diversity and promotes growth. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and adhere to all agency policies, health, and safety regulations.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
