Job Summary

As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities or special needs. You will provide compassionate care and support, assisting clients in their daily activities while promoting independence and dignity. This position requires a commitment to understanding the unique needs of each individual, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Duties

Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities, including assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming. Monitor patient behavior and health status, ensuring any changes are documented and communicated effectively. Assist clients with medication administration as needed, adhering to HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality. Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and personal development. Support individuals with autism by implementing tailored strategies to enhance communication and social skills. Provide care for clients with dementia or memory-related issues, ensuring a safe and supportive environment. Perform heavy lifting when necessary to assist clients in mobility or transfers. Maintain accurate records of patient observations and care provided.

Requirements

Experience in home care or direct support roles is preferred. Knowledge of patient monitoring techniques and patient observation skills. Familiarity with dementia care practices and memory care strategies. Understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and confidentiality. Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by client needs. Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and empathy when working with individuals with disabilities. Certification in medication administration is a plus but not mandatory. A commitment to ongoing training and professional development in the field of direct support.
