Job Description

A Direct Service Provider (DSP) provides invaluable and ongoing support and assistance to the families of children with Autism. It is our hope that your support and assistance will help children become more independent, families become more able to support their children, to thrive under your direct and indirect support and that your involvement will improve the quality of life.

We're looking for a self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively to work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a variety of locations, hours, and settings.

General responsibilities:

One-on-one support, assistance, oversight, and intervention Time-structuring activities Immediate behavioral reinforcements Preventative strategies and crisis intervention techniques Transporting client to access activities Sessions are goal-oriented and task-oriented, with interventions developed on an individualized basis based on the participant's individualized treatment plan. Use the home and community environment as a learning experience and opportunity to illustrate and model alternative ways for the participant to behave. Assist clients in achieving successful home and community living through structured support, reinforcement, modeling, and behavior management, as evidenced in written progress notes
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in a childcare or educational setting
- Knowledge of child development principles and best practices
- Experience working with youth who have special education needs or behavioral health challenges is preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to effectively manage conflicts and deescalate challenging situations
- Knowledge of child welfare policies and procedures is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field is preferred, but not required

- Reliable car transportation
