We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving, patient observation, and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs). This role requires a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our clients through personalized support and engagement.
Responsibilities
Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
Provide patient care in various settings such as group homes, assisted living facilities, or in-home care.
Monitor and document clients' vital signs and health status, ensuring adherence to care plans.
Support individuals with developmental disabilities, including those with autism, Alzheimer's disease, or dementia.
Engage clients in social activities and encourage participation in community events to promote independence.
Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light cleaning duties as needed.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to implement effective care strategies.
Requirements
Previous experience in home health care, senior care, or long-term care settings is preferred.
Knowledge of first aid and CPR is essential; certification is a plus.
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality is required.
Strong observational skills for monitoring patient behavior and health changes.
Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed for client transfers and mobility assistance.
Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or special needs is highly desirable.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
