Nature of position:
The primary purpose of your job position is to provide assistance in all dietary functions as directed/instructed and in accordance with established dietary procedure and policy.

Must possess, as a minimum, an eighth-grade education.
No experience necessary, on-the-job training will be provided.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, the appearance of work areas, and perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safely and proper performance of assigned duties.
Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level, they are currently functioning.
Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing dietary practices.
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
Must be able to meet the following physical requirements to complete duties listed in the job description:
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day.
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of this position.
May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during an emergency situation.
Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with the residents, personnel, and support agencies.
Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Must complete Criminal Background check as required.
Must understand and practice Standard Precautions.
Job Responsibilities:
Ensure that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel as well as with other departments within the facility to assure that food service can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the resident.
Participate in and assist in departmental studies and projects as assigned or that may be necessary.
Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, in-service training programs, etc, as directed.
Serve Meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
Assist in serving meals as necessary and on a timely basis.
Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
Clean work areas and resident areas in the correct sanitary manner.
Sweep and mop floors as directed.
Carry all soiled dishes, pans, etc. to the dish room and put through dishwasher.
Return dried dishes, utensils, etc to proper storage.
Carry out garbage and keep work areas clean, dry, and free of hazards.
Set up meal trays, food carts, dining room etc. as instructed.
Assist cook in preparing meals as needed. Puree/grind food, dish desserts, help peel/clean fruits and vegetables.
Distribute menus and help residents choose meal selections appropriately.
Deliver food carts to designated areas such as Rainbow, Parkview, or Friendship Lounge.
Serve food/beverages in dining room, giving residents choice, and making sure they have a meal which they will enjoy. Encourage compliance of diets when appropriate.
Perform dishwashing/cleaning procedures. Assure that all items are available for use for the next meal.
Clean dining room tables after meals and sanitize as recommended.
Vacuum dining room after breakfast and supper meals.
Prepare and deliver snack carts on schedule.
Follow safety regulations and precautions at all times.
Follow Infection Control guidelines at all times.
Report all hazardous conditions to your supervisor immediately.
Wear hair nets and nametags at all times.
Assist in maintaining food storage area in a clean and properly manner at all times.
Report any missing MSDS labels to your Department Director.
Label any food that has been opened or leftover food that is to be saved.
Remove dirty dishes from lounges, clean and return back to lounge.
Maintain confidentiality of all resident information and understand Vulnerable Adult Abuse Prevention Policy
Must uphold residents' rights at all times.
Assist in food preparation for special events, activities, etc.
Report any complaints to the Dietary Director.
Read communication book before every shift and keep current.
Report absence, according to policy.
Come to work on time as scheduled.
Make suggestions, complaints, or grievances in constructive manner.
Maintain good personal hygiene and grooming.
* Wear the proper uniform. Jeans may be worn on Fridays per policy. No open toe shoes or sleeveless shirts.
