The Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove (WVHUG) is recruiting for a Food Service Manager, to serve as Dietary Services Director. The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term care facility that provides comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. Our facility is in Racine County, a short drive from Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and other key locations in southeastern Wisconsin.

Position Summary

Interested in advancing your career in food service? Want to provide nutritious and delicious meals to retired Wisconsin veterans?
Under the general supervision of the Veterans Home Assistant Administrator, this Food Service Manager functions as the Dietary Services Director for WVHUG. The incumbent directs, implements and manages a complex interdisciplinary nutritional care system for residents in long-term care and skilled nursing. Responsibilities include collaborating with the Registered Dietitian, assessing the nutritional needs of residents and determining available resources to meet those needs; implementing and managing VHUG's dining services system; managing central food production and distribution operations; developing Dietary Services' policies, procedures and operational goals; and employee supervision, selection, training, and evaluation.

Salary Information
----------------------
Starting salary is between $68,640 and $72,800 per year, depending on candidate qualifications.
This position is in pay schedule-pay range 81-04. Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Starting pay for current State employees may vary based on applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan.

This position works 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and requires working weekends and holidays on a rotating basis and works evenings or on call as needed to meet WVHUG operational needs.
Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
A 12-month probationary period may be required.
Qualifications
------------------
This position
requires one of the following
credentials
:
Completion of course of study in food service management approved by the Dietary Managers Association or an equivalent program; or
Associate degree as a dietetic technician from a program approved by the American Dietetic Association
Licensure as a Registered Dietitian in Wisconsin; or
In addition to the credential,
required qualifications
that will be reviewed in the first step of the process are experience:
Managing food service (e.g., purchasing/requisitioning, planning production, keeping timelines, shipping and billing, short- and long-range planning, quality assurance/performance improvement, developing policies and procedures, etc.)
Supervising staff (e.g., defining duties of position, interviewing, hiring, conducting performance evaluations, counseling/coaching on performance and improvement goals, handling employment relations issues, participating in disciplinary actions, firing, managing meetings, coordinating input from staff, resolving conflict, approving leave requests, verifying time sheets, etc.)
The
preferred qualification
that will be reviewed in the first step of the process is experience:
Interpreting and adhering to nursing home and/or long-term care regulations/requirements
In addition to the qualifications reviewed in the first step of the process, qualifications that will be reviewed in next steps are experience:
With nutrition values and therapeutic meal planning Evaluating and updating a program Using computer applications, including scheduling systems and meal-planning programs With program management
Developing and maintaining teams
