Monday - Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
Monday - Friday 6:30 am - 3:00 pm
Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:30 pm

Duties and Responsibilities

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
Diagnoses, repairs, services, and maintains heavy and light duty vehicles and equipment; determines need for repair or replacement of components; determines in-house serviceability or need for external vendor repair; replace tires; repairs or rebuilds hydraulic valves, wiring systems, brakes, suspension, electrical systems, and/or performs specialty equipment repair work; performs road calls for field equipment repairs
Performs preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment; prepares and maintains maintenance schedules; inspects and tests maintenance and repair work to ensure quality levels and completion
Maintains inventory levels in stockroom and reconciles inventory counts; issues parts and supplies from stockroom; obtains vendor quotes and requisitions for parts and/or services; may monitor reports and order fuel; verifies invoice accuracy upon receipt; may assist in commissioning new and decommissioning surplus equipment and completing condition statements
Generates and tracks work orders; monitors service time and expedites repairs as needed; documents work activities; enters system data noting labor and supplies used
Assists with operation of shop and completion of related paperwork; communicates with customers regarding vehicle and equipment issues; provides supervisory coverage when needed
May assist in preparing annual budget by preparing equipment specifications, reviewing vendors, and making recommendations
May serve as lead worker assigning work and monitoring work completion
Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience:
6 months+ training beyond High School in Automotive Repair or related field; 3 to 5 years' experience in automotive repair, vehicle electronics, or a related field
OR
Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted
Licenses or Certifications:
Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
NC Safety and Emissions Inspection License or the ability to obtain within 90 days
Air Conditioning Certifications
Preferred Qualifications:

Work Environment and Physical Effort:
Medium: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in an outdoor environment, street environment, vehicle, or in a shop environment. Employees may occasionally work in an office or similar indoor environment.
Work Exposures:
There is frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts. Employees may occasionally be exposed to extreme cold (below 32 degrees), extreme heat (above 100 degrees), fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals or substances, and loud noises (85+ decibels average over 8-hour working day such as heavy trucks, jack hammers, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, construction).
