Journeyman Diesel Technician Job Summary:

The primary function of the Journeyman Service Technician is to complete quality repairs in a timely manner while maintaining excellent efficiency and productivity and maintaining training and quality control goals set forth by the Service Manager.

Journeyman Diesel Technician Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Completes repairs assigned by foreman with little assistance.

2. Shares skills with apprentice and intern technicians.

3. Performs quality control checks of workmanship following service project.

4. Communicates repairs required to Foreman and other personnel to obtain customer approval.

5. Maintains complete technician repair notes.

6. Conveys repair details to other personnel as needed.

7. Assists in cultivating Intern and Apprentice Technicians, training and managing productivity to encourage growth.

8. Maintains a clean and organized work environment.

9. Maintains accurate work order time records and details.

10. Employs tools of the job correctly and maintains shop tools.

11. Attends training for technicial certfications and safety as required.

Journeyman Diesel Technician Qualifications:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. High school diploma or the equivalent. Four years of experience as a heavy duty truck repair technician. Working knowledge of all heavy truck repair methods. Excellent communication skills. Valid Commercial Driver's License preferred. Good driving record. Professional personal appearance.



WORKING CONDITIONS



This is a physically demanding position. Will stand six to eight hours per shift; lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds. Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel. Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials. Must climb in and out of customer's vehicles to record information and road drive. S/he will be required to wear a dealership uniform.
