Fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, and related items. Modifies dies to conform to engineering changes. Works closely with machinists, production, and other departments as appropriate. Maintains a safe work area and trains apprentices in the trade. Typical job title: Foreman.
Description:
As a Class "D" Die Corrector, you will begin to learn entry-level die correction and repair, methods and procedures involving machining, and daily hands-on die correction with dies up to 150 pounds. You will be expected to learn and understand "assembly" tasks and priorities required for daily operational functionality involving: maintaining press schedules, assembly/disassembly of dies, managing Sodium Hydroxide tank/nitriding system, and abiding by EPA/safety regulations.
As you progress through entry level requirements, you will begin to gain hands-on knowledge of experienced die correcting methods and troubleshooting techniques.
Duties:
Maintain extrusion press schedules
+ Correlate with press leadmen & scheduler to meet extrusion schedule priorities
+ Assemble & disassemble dies required to go-to/come back from press
Breakdown extruded dies and load/unload caustic (sodium hydroxide) tank
+ Wear proper PPE and abide by safety protocols
+ Monitor and log caustic scrubber readings
Learn basic extrusion press operation and fundamentals for basic knowledge of extrusion operations
Correct and repair entry-level extrusion dies
+ Correctly document data and fill out die reports
+ Operate computer database
Entry-level machine operation
+ Mills, surface grinders, lathes, welding, etc.
Requirements:
Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, capable of pushing multiple heavy dies on carts to press
Capable of passing & maintaining a fork truck license
Machining experience preferred but not required
Ability to read micrometers, calipers and other precision gauges/measuring devices
Capable of working both scheduled & volunteer overtime
Problem solving skills, data organization and math/geometry knowledge
40-56 hours a week
Saturday's- time and a half & Sundays- Double time.
Pay Range:
18.06 - 27.08
