Job Description

DIAL/SELF AmeriCorps Members build relationships with young people and support them in developing skills, connection, and confidence in their learning. They use activities such as arts & music, academic support, and collaborative coaching. They create opportunities for young people to set goals, drive their own solutions, make decisions, learn by doing, and grow. The DIAL/SELF AmeriCorps program has three core elements: +On-site direct service with young people +Community team service projects +Weekly workshops covering topics such as: developmental relationships, positive youth development, motivational interviewing, conflict resolution circles, social-emotional learning, multiple intelligences, civic engagement, life after AmeriCorps, and asset-based community development. Members earn a compensation package of up to $28,395. This includes a stipend of up to $21,000 and Segal Education Award of up to $7,395. The Education Award can be used to pay for pre-existing student loans or future education. Members receive free health care and child care as needed. Members can opt to forebear their student loan repayment during their service. Members gain practical experience and build leadership skills that transfer across careers, particularly those related to education, youth work, the arts, nonprofits, social work and community work. They make connections that lead to future opportunities in the region and beyond. They participate in a supportive learning community that challenges them to build on their strengths and put their values into practice. Member Duties :

Serving at a school or local community agency, DIAL/SELF AmeriCorps Members: +Build Developmental Relationships with young people +Support skill-development and social-emotional learning +Amplify youth leadership and community-based accountability +Design creative approaches to learning +Encourage autonomy, connection, and confidence in young learners In the weekly Learning Community, Members: +Reflect on their service, learn from one another, and engage topics related to their service in a dynamic learning environment. +Collaborate in small groups to design a project with and for young people. They activate community assets to meet community needs and develop skills along the way.
