Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Diagnostic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to animals while utilizing their technical skills in diagnostics. This position requires a strong background in veterinary practices, animal handling, and laboratory procedures. The Diagnostic Technician will work closely with veterinarians and other staff to ensure the well-being of our patients.

Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic tests and procedures on animals, including blood work, X-rays, and other laboratory analyses. Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and surgeries as needed. Maintain accurate records of patient information, test results, and treatment plans. Ensure proper handling and restraint of animals during procedures to minimize stress and injury. Utilize aseptic techniques when preparing for surgeries or handling samples. Provide support in the care of animals post-procedure, including monitoring vital signs and administering medications as directed. Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and post-treatment instructions. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the diagnostic area and equipment.

Experience

Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:

Kennel experience or equivalent animal handling background. Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry practices. Experience in veterinary critical care or emergency situations is highly desirable. Laboratory experience including proficiency in performing diagnostic tests. Equine experience is a plus for those working with a diverse range of animals. Previous veterinary technician experience is preferred but not mandatory. Skills in dog training, grooming, catheterization, and restraint techniques are advantageous. Pay: $45,736.90 - $55,081.00 per year
