The individual assumes Para-Professional responsibilities with regard to routine care, developmental training, and health and safety monitoring individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID). The Para-Professional carries out responsibilities under the direction and supervision of trained and where appropriate, licensed professional staff composing the Professional Services Team.

To be eligible for consideration applicants should have:

Graduation from High School or Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED), or demonstrated ability to read, write, and follow oral instructions. Completion of Intensive Staff Development Program dealing with individuals with Intellectual Disabilities, including etiology and management.

Prior experience in care and treatment of individuals with Intellectual Disabilities may be considered based on length of time of experience (at least 6 months successful experience,) and review of past evaluations related to performance when working with these individuals; however, some training modules of the Staff Development Course may be required.
