This is a full-time non-exempt position based in Anchorage, Alaska. The Development Coordinator will work to advance AIJ's mission and help generate resources to support the agency's three main programs. This will include assisting with AIJ's overall financial goals by developing and implementing internal and external agency fundraising, donor stewardship, and public relations strategies, and events.

Personal
: The individual for this position must have excellent written and oral communication skills, self-confidence, and the ability to champion AIJ's mission and programs to diverse audiences. The person must be dependable, be able to work with a team of co-workers in stressful situations, and work with people from diverse cultures whose first language is not English. Having existing connections with, or the ability to make connections with, funders at all levels is imperative, as diversity in funding is key to AIJ's sustainability.
Education/Experience:
B.A or higher in Development, Communications, or related work experience. The ideal candidate would have experience developing and executing effective fundraising strategies and activities. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and work experience with culturally diverse groups is required. Must be highly organized with an attention to detail. Knowledge of social media tools, Excel spreadsheets, and data entry. Previous work experience with a non-profit is preferred.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
:
1. Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan for the organization and its programs.
2. Seek out and lead fundraising opportunities that align with AIJ's financial goals and values.
3. Grow and strengthen AIJ's network of partners and supporters.
4. Choose and maintain a donor database.
5. Keeping up-to-date information on donors and donations, and generating acknowledgement and thank you letters.
6. Foster relationships with major donors, foundations, and prospects.
7. Work with the communications coordinator to develop communications needed for the execution of the fundraising plan.
8. Coordinate with program directors to look for development opportunities
9. Organize events to maintain relationships with donors and raise awareness of AIJ's work in the community, including solicitation of in-kind event support (auction items, partnerships, event donations)
10. Participate in staff meetings
11. Maintain regular and reliable attendance
12. Other duties as assigned

Pay: $26.00 - $35.00 per hour
