Refuge for Women is a non-profit, faith-based organization providing specialized care for women who have escaped human trafficking or sexual exploitation. With multiple locations across the U.S., Refuge for Women offers safe housing, at no charge to the resident, with around-the-clock care as clients progress through evidence-based, trauma-informed programming. The compassionate staff is trained to help residents work through the program to reclaim their identities and reach their goals to overcome addictions, heal from trauma and develop life skills leading to healthy, balanced living and financial independence. Refuge for Women strives to help each woman complete the program with a vision for her future, equipped to succeed and sustain a life marked with dignity and hope.

Position Overview:





The Development Assistant provides vital administrative, operational, and logistical support to the Development Director, helping to advance the mission of providing safe, restorative homes for women escaping exploitation. This role ensures the smooth execution of fundraising activities, donor stewardship, and data management. The Development Assistant plays a key role in maintaining donor relationships, coordinating events, and supporting the day-to-day functions that sustain and grow the organization's impact.

Your Team Contribution:





You'll work closely with the Development Director and team to ensure that every donor, partner, and supporter feels valued and connected to the mission. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will help keep fundraising activities efficient and effective, allowing the team to focus on building transformational relationships and expanding support for survivors.

At the same time, you don't forget people in the midst of efficiency - you ensure donors and event guests experience exceptional communication and care. Administrative & Database Support




Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in the CRM system Process donations promptly and prepare acknowledgment letters and receipts. Support data entry, reporting, and tracking of gifts, pledges, and event participation. Generate donor lists, mailing labels, and reports as needed. Ensure confidentiality and integrity of donor information.

Donor Stewardship & Communication




Assist with donor communications, including thank-you notes, impact reports, and mailings. Help coordinate donor appreciation efforts and recognition events. Support the creation and scheduling of email and social media fundraising content. Serve as a friendly and professional point of contact for donor inquiries. Collaborate with the Development Director to maintain consistent and heartfelt messaging.

Event & Campaign Support




Assist with planning and logistics for fundraising events, campaigns, and community outreach. Coordinate event invitations, RSVPs, and guest lists. Support sponsorship outreach and fulfillment. Manage volunteer communication and coordination for events. Track event results and help prepare post-event reports.


Grants & Foundation Support




Help gather data, reports, and documentation for grant applications and renewals. Maintain grant tracking systems and deadlines. Support the Development Director in preparing materials for foundation partners.

Office & Team Support




Provide general administrative assistance to the Development Director. Schedule meetings, take notes, and manage calendars as needed. Support collaboration between development, communications, and program teams. Assist in maintaining organized digital and physical development files.



Skills & Qualifications




Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred. 1-3 years of experience in nonprofit administration, fundraising, or event coordination. Strong organizational, writing, and interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency with Google applications and donor management systems. Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
