Turning Point is recruiting for a full-time Counselor seeking an early career opportunity to obtain professional growth and licensure. Those with licensure are welcome to apply. The Primary Counselor will provide comprehensive treatment services which will include assessment of client needs, individualized treatment plans, individual and group therapy and facilitation of all appropriate discharge plans.
The work schedule for this position includes one evening shift and weekend shift on a rotation among counseling staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
Assess client needs and provide each client with an individualized treatment plan.
Conduct individual and group counseling sessions with clients.
Present didactic sessions on chemical dependency and other related issues.
Document individual and group counseling sessions using the D.A.P. method.
Arranges for family members of clients to participate in the Family Program/Visitation.
Perform family counseling as needed. Refer to Family Counselor or designee as appropriate
Coordinate client's medical treatment with medical department or outside facility as indicated.
Act as Case Manager for assigned clients.
Perform all reporting and record keeping in accordance with Turning Point policy.
Participates in all clinical staff meetings.
Participate in weekly supervision meetings and monthly Grand Rounds.
Coordinate all discharge planning for caseload clients.
Responsible for knowing and enforcing Turning Point Policy and Procedure.
Responsible for maintaining status of credentials and continuing education courses.
Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives as directed by supervisor.
Performs all other duties as necessary or as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
1.Each substance abuse counselor shall be either an LCADC or a CADC or another licensed health professional doing work of an alcohol or drug counseling nature within their scope of practice. CADC shall work under the supervision of an LCADC, or another health professional licensed to supervise work of an alcohol or drug counseling nature within their scope of practice. CADC cannot diagnose substance abuse without the signature approval of an LCADC or other clinical supervisor approved to do so.
2.Substance abuse counseling staff without LCADC or CADC status, or who are not other health professionals licensed to do work of an alcohol or drug counseling nature within their scope of practice, shall function as counselor-interns, and shall: i. Be enrolled in a course of study leading to CADC or LCADC status, or to another health professional license that includes work of an alcohol and drug counseling nature within its scope of practice, without regard to changes in employment, with progress towards certification or licensing on file, reviewed by the facility at least semiannually and documented;
