Detention Center Sergeant

Seward County Detention Center is accepting applications for the position of a Detention Center Sergeant!



This position is responsible for assisting in supervising the day to day operations of the Seward County Detention Center.



This is direct contact supervisor work responsible for the supervision of subordinate personnel and ensuring the security and safety of incarcerated individuals. Performs work of ordinary difficulty and responsibility in directing and instructing corrections officers in the confinement, care, custody and restraint, when necessary, of inmates, and in other related routine and specialized work as directed or by assignment, exercises latitude of judgment and initiative in carrying out assigned routine duties to insure effective custody and security of inmates. Supervises subordinates through oral and written reports and personal observation. Work is reviewed as to conformity and attainment of desired results through observation, oral and written reports, discussions and inspections.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be legally able to perform work in the U.S. Must be at least 21 years of age or older. Must have a high school diploma or GED. Must have two (2) years of experience in a correctional setting. Must have completed the minimum requirements of training by NE Jail Standards Board Must have valid Driver's License. Must be fingerprinted at the time of employment and the fingerprints cards promptly submitted to the Nebraska State Patrol for a criminal history search: must not have had any convictions punishable by imprisonment in a federal or state penitentiary for one year or more unless pardon received. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Must be able to legally perform work in the United States

Starting wage: $30.83 or more per hour, depending on experience.
