Design Technician- AutoCAD/Drafter

Experience preferred

NOT a remote position.

MUST possess a minimum 2 year degree and experience in drafting.

Position is located on-site in Louisville, KY

This position performs a variety of duties related to the design of gas and/or electric utilities on-site at a major

gas & electric utility

. The successful candidate will have an on-the-job training period under the wing of an experienced tech, after which they will work with little supervision. However, support is always available.

Responsibilities:

Duties may include, but are not limited to

assisting with layout and design engineering work for utility construction

performing field work such as, measuring accurately with tape or wheel

interpreting engineering drawings

taking basic field notes

occasionally driving locating stakes

minor right-of-way clearing

preparing cost estimates using client specific software

and other similar tasks

Experience in design/drafting/AutoCAD work is required

.

Essential Skills:

Minimum of two-five years of experience in related position.

Must be able to learn to make and read drawings and sketches.

Must have proficient technical knowledge and skills, such as mathematics, and be able to handle difficult and multiple design assignments.

Competent in computer/windows-based applications and possesses the ability and willingness to learn new software programs.

Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job which may include: walking in various types of environments; long periods of sitting at computer; and other moderate physical activity.

Valid driver's license and clean driving history

required

Requirements:

Bachelors degree required, or an Associates degree with related experience will also be considered.

Additional Information:

This position will require pre-employment background checks and drug & alcohol testing. It is also subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

$27-30/per hour

depending on educational and industry experience
