Primary Goal:

The Design Assistant supports the Design & Estimating teams in developing construction documents and design selections that translate client vision into a complete, actionable scope for production. The ideal candidate is highly organized, communicative, and team oriented.

Qualifications:

-------------------

Formal design training in an educational setting and minimum of 1 year of experience designing residential remodels, creating floor plans, and drawing elevations and perspectives, preferred. Creative imagination and practical understanding of construction. Hand-drawing skills and good 'design sense' for space planning and finishes selections. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Web-based applications Strong knowledge of proper English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and word usage Ability to communicate concepts, thoughts, and ideas to others, both written and orally Proficient in AutoCAD 2020 3D drafting and preferably Chief Architect Ability to establish and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with managers, peers, clients, and other employees. Ability to lift 35lbs. Frequent standing, walking, and sitting. Frequent lifting and carrying up to 10lbs. Must be able to work at a computer desk area for extended periods of time.

All Design Staff may be asked to perform the following duties as assigned by the General Manager or Lead Designers:

Design Assistant Primary Responsibilities:

Create imaginative and practical design solutions. Support Lead Designers in any needed Design Process activities Assist in drafting plan sets to help complete all construction documentation Visit job sites to assist in resolving design issues, as needed. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of design trends, building practices and technical applications including design software. Secure some of the finishes, fixtures, materials, appliances, and other miscellaneous items unique to each job and assist the client in shopping at showrooms as directed. Research and specify items and materials as necessary to meet the varying needs of each unique project. Coordinate with the Lead Designers for fine tuning of the design.

Sales/Marketing:

Participate in marketing activities like marketing videos, photoshoots, home shows and assisting with the setup and takedown of marketing events, which may occasionally fall outside of normal working hours.

General Administrative Duties

Participate in weekly design review meetings. Assist in maintaining the showroom for cleanliness and appropriate stock levels of supplies and refreshments. Provide phone backup, marketing assistance and participate as a member of the team.
