THE BENSON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE HAS AN IMMEDIATE OPENING FOR A FULL TIME DEPUTY SHERIFF.

Preference will be given to applicants that are ND P.O.S.T. board licensed or eligible to be licensed and in good standing with the Post Board. Prior law enforcement experience is required. Starting salary is $49,980 per year and may increase for past law enforcement experience. Benson County provides NDPERS law enforcement plan for retirement with the county paying 5.19%, employer pays 12.85% into retirement account. Benson County provides a full single health insurance policy with dental, vision & life insurance options or up to 80% paid family health insurance policy.

The Deputy Sheriff is responsible for patrolling assigned areas, enforce laws and ordinances, serve civil papers, conduct investigations, interview, and apprehend suspects. Deputy will respond to calls for service, assist other agencies to include the Lake Region Narcotics Task Force on drug investigations.

Deputies are provided a take home vehicle, uniforms, body armor and duty weapon. The successful applicant will be on a 6 month probationary period.
