Duties

***The Bureau of Engraving and Printing is currently in the process of having a new facility built in Beltsville, MD and expect to move to the new facility within the next 5 years. If selected, you may be sent and/or reassigned to the new Beltsville facility. By applying to this position, you understand this potential requirement.***

As a Deputy Printing Officer, you will:
  • Exercise significant responsibilities in dealing with officials of other units or organizations, or in advising management officials of higher rank.
  • Meet and confer with a variety of national and local union officials and employees to resolve grievances, complaints and issues.
  • Act as deciding official for formal grievances.
  • Be responsible for the successful accomplishment of special assignments and projects assigned by the Chief.
  • Act with full authority in projecting, planning and directing a multi-year, multi million-dollar securities printing program and related production operations through subordinate managers and supervisors.

SUITABILITY, CLEARANCE & REQUIREMENTS: A background investigation will be required for all new hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant\'s successful completion of a background investigation and favorable adjudication. The background investigation process conducted by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing is very thorough. Qualifications


You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience for the GS-14 is one year (52 weeks) of experience at the GS-13 level or equivalent, in the public sectors, that is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Specialized experience is defined as:

  • Experience managing within a printing facility either for the government or private industry, AND
  • Developing, implementing and tracking performance metrics for manufacturing operations, AND
  • Experience with administrative functions and management of human capital.

Education

This job does not have an education qualification requirement.

  • The facility typically shuts down annually between Christmas and New Year\'s Day. As such, all BEP employees must take leave for workdays during the shutdown period.

  • A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.

How You Will Be Evaluated


You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above. Category rating will be used to rank and select eligible candidates. A subject matter expert will be used in the evaluation.
