Brief Description of Duties
The Deputy Director reports to the Director of the developing America's Workforce Nucleus (DAWN) initiative. The position serves dual functions: play a pivotal role in the strategic leadership, program development, day-to-day operations, and evaluation of DAWN, helping to position DAWN as a leader University based community partnerships. The Deputy Director also serves as the Anacostia Ambassador for the Urban Waters Federal Partnership (UWFP). The UWFP comprises 15 federal agencies and 28 nongovernmental organizations working collaboratively in 20 designated locations to help urban and metropolitan areas, particularly those that are underserved or economically distressed, connect with their waterways and work to improve them.
The dual role position is responsible for developing and growing the Academy and the Urban Water Federal Partnership Anacostia location, serving as a driving force in community efforts to enhance the educational and career opportunities for District students and residents more generally while also championing the environmental and economic benefits of clean, safe, accessible urban waters and lands.
The ideal candidate brings experience in program management, community organizing and stakeholder engagement, entrepreneurship, environmental issues and school based activities. A passion for truth and justice is essential.
