From peer-led grief support groups to training and education to community events, CFH's free grief services are dedicated to creating spaces that normalize grief and build connection, inviting everyone to honor grief together.

Position Overview



The Deputy Director, under the direction of the Executive Director, makes high-level decisions impacting organizational operations, interprets policies, and oversees the overall management and execution of marketing, human resources, program management, technology, financial health, and evaluation processes. They support the Executive Director in executing strategic initiatives, ensuring operational efficiency, financial resiliency, maintaining compliance, and nurturing a high-performing, mission-aligned organizational culture.

Key Areas of Leadership



Operational

: In alignment with CFH's strategic goals, serve as the primary operational leader, directing organization-wide operations and administrative systems to drive organizational effectiveness and efficiency while managing risk and securing infrastructure.

Marketing & Communications

: In alignment with CFH's brand standards, lead organization communications strategy while overseeing digital presence, promotional campaigns, and brand management.

HR & Management

: Through grief-informed leadership, direct organization-wide hiring, onboarding, staff development, and performance management to build a high-performing and mission-aligned culture of excellence.

Financial

: In partnership with the ED and Board Executive Committee, ensure fiscal resiliency through budget and cash-flow management, monitoring compliance and risk to support strategic financial planning and resource allocation.

Programming & Evaluation

: In partnership with program leadership and community partners, translate strategic goals into measurable work plans while overseeing evaluation systems and data reporting for continuous improvement and annual reporting.

Development & Fundraising

: In partnership with the ED, support fundraising strategy through successful partnerships, grant coordination, storytelling, and community engagement.

Qualifications



Proven senior leadership experience (7+ years) in nonprofit operations, finance, HR, and program management, supported by education/certifications in relevant fields. Mental health experience is a plus. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-moving environment. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills for interacting effectively with staff, clients, and community partners. Ability to compile data and generate clear reports for evaluation and decision-making purposes.
