Job Description

Our Deposit Operations Specialist - Funds Transfer is responsible for accurate and timely processing of settlement transactions within rules, regulations, and strict deadlines. Processes wire transfers and related transactions. Works closely with deposit operations staff to research and resolve transactional discrepancies. Balances general ledger accounts and posts correcting entries, reviewing and verifying the accuracy of transactions to support the financial integrity of the organization.




Major Duties and Responsibilities

Maintains incoming and outgoing domestic and international wire transfers for members. Research member accounts to assist with risk management processes. Processes share draft files and exceptions; manages communication to members for returns and IRDs; and submit check adjustments, communicates, and directs frontline staff resolving errors in share draft processing. Review and process incoming adjustments from the Federal Reserve. Validate check images and coding for archive. Reviews share drafts entered through the remote deposit capture (RDC) channel for endorsement and potential for fraud or loss. Places holds on RDC checks, following all institutional policies and procedures. Communicates with members regarding rejected deposits and check holds. Administers the deceased member process and maintenance. Administers Bill Pay program administration and exception posting. Triage of incoming tickets and phone calls to get question s and issues resolved efficiently. Account research when needed. Monitors and reconciles select general ledger accounts as well as assist with ad hoc tasks necessary for completion of monthly financial statements. Processes shared branching adjustments via the Credit Union Service Network (CUSN). Other duties and backup as assigned to support the deposit operations function. Supports Deposit Operations Department initiatives; provides backup to key components within the department. Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws, and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Follows established company policies and procedures, including but not limited to: Sarbanes Oxley controls, Business Ethics and Standard of Conduct, Electronic Communications, Confidentiality and Privacy.

Knowledge and Skills

Experience





A minimum of one year up to three years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.


Education/Certifications/Licenses





A high school degree or equivalent


Interpersonal Skills





Courtesy and tact are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with customers and others inside and outside the organization, generally regarding fairly routine matters for the purposes of giving and obtaining information or instructions, updating or referring. Communications generally require shorter and not in-depth discussions.


Other Skills





Ability to prioritize multiple, and sometimes, conflicting tasks. Strong interpersonal communication skills are necessary for communicating expense deadlines to department managers and supervisors.


FULL TIME POSITION




Starting Range: $19.47 - $21.79




Full Range: $18.54 - $27.81

Physical Requirements





Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.


Working Conditions





Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.


Mental and/or Emotional Requirements





Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
