Job Description


Gateway Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of St. Louis, P.C. is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our dental team as an oral surgery receptionist / administrative assistant. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to patients, answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and facilitating patient flow. RESPONSIBILITIES PHONES

  • Answer phones (scheduling appointments, answering patients\xe2\x80\x99 questions, triaging calls to appropriate office/person as needed
  • Confirm appointments & retrieves VM messages from main phone lines(s)
  • Transfer phones and phone calls to other office personnel as appropriate
  • Make calls (patients, referring offices, etc.), take and forward messages for doctors and staff as needed
RECEPTION
  • Greet patients with a welcoming demeanor
  • Check-in and register patients
  • Correct, add and/or update patient information as needed
  • Scan documents (licenses, medical cards, etc.)
  • Ensure all consents and other documents are signed and scanned into medical record
  • Retrieve referrals
  • Confirm appointments
  • Enter charges and post payments to patients\xe2\x80\x99 account. Collect co-pays and deductibles as required and give receipts.
  • Create treatment plans and discuss with patients.
  • Prepare daily deposits
  • Daily reconciliation of appointments, charges, and payments
INSURANCE
  • Collect insurance information from patients
  • Verify insurance benefits, estimate copay, and go over with patients
  • File insurance claims electronically with attachments
  • Enter insurance payments and understand how to read an EOB
  • Follow-up on past due claims and send appeals
GENERAL
  • Must always represent the practice in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner
  • Must be able to handle multiple deadlines and task assignments comfortably and efficiently
  • Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in team settings
  • Other duties and tasks, as assigned
  • Good mathematical aptitude to prepare deposit slips, end of the day summaries, and other related daily financial transactions
  • Maintain regular attendance and adhere to assigned work schedule and office policies
  • Adheres to all HIPAA privacy and OSHA safety standards
REQUIREMENTS
  • Organized, motivated, committed, and self-directed
  • Proficient in MS Office products and general familiarity with practice management systems. WINOMS experience is a plus.
  • Must be detail oriented to maintain good financial practices, account balances, and financial reporting
  • Must be flexible and understand that job duties may change from time to time
  • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional, mature demeanor \xe2\x80\x93 with the ability to work with a variety of personalities
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Preferred: at least one year of experience in a phone/front desk position in an oral surgery office. Will consider 1 years in a phone/front desk position in a dental office for the right candidate.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
