Summary:

The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is a federally recognized Tribe with its ancestral homeland located in Niobrara, NE. The Tribe does not have a reservation in the classic definition; rather, the Ponca Restoration Act defined its jurisdiction as a \'Service Delivery Area\' comprised of 15 counties throughout parts of Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota. Within its Service Delivery Area, the Tribe offers a broad range of health, social, educational, and cultural services.

Dental Financial Coordinator is responsible for maximizing the financial collections of the dental department by correctly and timely insurance credentialing, investigating the insurance potential of patients, processing of insurance claims, and assuring correct procedure coding. Will provide guidance and direction along with in-service to the dental team to increase financials. Attends insurance seminars and represents the Ponca Tribe\'s best interests. Creates financial reports. Participates in achieving the financial goals of the Chief Dental Officer.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties: * Credentials providers with insurance companies.

  • Submits dental claims using dental software on a timely basis.
  • Follow up on all denied/returned claims as well as aging reports, to assure the most revenue possible.
  • Entering patient visits into the RPMS system, so to have accurate reports.
  • Will implement and monitor GRPA benchmarks.
  • Verifies all possible revenues sources i.e. private insurance, Medicaid etc.
  • Participates with the Chief Dental Officer in the development of departmental goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
  • Submits reports, writes correspondence as necessary and directed by the Chief Dental Officer.
  • Audits that funds were collected from patients (none Ponca /Insurance/Medicaid) for lab work. Prepares deposits.
  • Implements/monitors all policies and improvements needed for accreditation.
  • Professionally represent the organization in the public meeting and seminars in relationship to revenue.
  • Educates Dental Operations Manager and Dental Receptionist on improved collection techniques. Provides in-service to staff related to improved financial responsibility.
Relationships and Authority:

The position has no supervisory authority, unless assigned by Chief Dental Officer.

Working Environment and Physical Demands:

Office work mainly at a desk. Work is subject to on occasion emotionally upset patients, family members, personnel and visitors.

Qualifications:

Minimum: * 2 years of dental insurance billing.
  • 1 years working with Native Americans or Native American Organizations
  • ADA coding certificate.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency with dental software experience.
  • Valid driver\'s license and be insurable.
  • Successfully pass drug and alcohol testing, motor vehicle, education, character, and criminal background checks.
  • Knowledge of Dentrix dental practice management software and imaging software.
  • Able and willing to travel.
Preferred: * Certified Dental Coder
  • Two is more ideal, years\' experience working with Native Americans or Native American organizations.
  • Dental assistant for one or more years..
  • Knowledge and understanding of Public Law 93-638: Indian Self Determination Act.
Preference will be given to Ponca Tribe of Nebraska members or members of a federally recognized tribe. However, all qualified individuals are eligible.

The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is an at-will employer.
