The Carroll County Health Department proposes to hire a Registered Dental Assistant This position shall function as a Dental Assistant in the Carroll County Health Department\xe2\x80\x99s Oral Health Program. This position provides chairside assistance in the pediatric dental clinic Four to Five days per week. The clinic is located within the Carroll County Health Department.

Position Details:Dental Assistant

Preferred Education: Candidates for this classification must possess and maintain a current registration by the Maryland Board of Dental Examiners as a Dental Assistant to include X-Ray and CPR Certification. Candidate must also participate in Prevention of Abuse and Neglect for Dental Professionals (PANDA) and Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA )Training(s).

Preferred Experience: Experience as a Dental Assistant in a Public Health Clinic

Setting.

Position Details and Preferred Requirements: * Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience as a Dental Assistant in a public health setting.

• Candidate must possess a current certification as a Registered Dental Assistant in the State of Maryland.
• Job responsibilities include: Perform chairside assistance in a pediatric dental clinic 4- 5 days per week, Monday-Friday: no weekend hours. Incumbent must be able to demonstrate the following professional skills: Rinses and aspirates the oral cavity, Retracts the lips, cheek, tongue and flaps, places and removes materials for isolation of the teeth, checks for loose bands, takes and develops x-rays, prepares treatment trays including instruments, medications and materials; provides basic oral hygiene instructions to patient or guardian(s), pours and prepares dental models/impressions for shipments.
• Equipment responsibilities: Conducts sterilization procedures of instruments, operatories and equipment according to OSHA requirements. Operating and maintaining the ultrasonic cleaner, autoclave, dental statim, film processor and x-ray equipment, monitoring the vacuum pump and compressor as well as maintaining dental unit water lines.
• Additional job responsibilities on an as needed basis: Use effective therapeutic communication, answer clinic phones and schedule patients on an as needed basis, open/closes clinic rooms on a daily basis, prepares patient charts as needed, other duties as assigned.
• Candidate must possess current motor vehicle operator\xe2\x80\x99s license and own vehicle.
• Pay rate for this position is $23.00 Per Hour.
