Responsibilities



Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies, ensuring all equipment is sterile and ready for use. Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to strict radiation safety protocols; operate digital imaging systems such as 3D scanners when needed. Manage patient records accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality. Perform chairside assisting by providing support during procedures, including handling instruments, suctioning, and maintaining a clear operative field. Monitor vital signs and medical history of patients to ensure safety during treatment; recognize signs of medical emergencies and respond appropriately. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote overall dental health. Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization of instruments to prevent cross-contamination. Support the dental reception area by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing patient flow efficiently. Assist with administrative tasks such as verifying insurance information, processing medical coding for billing purposes, and organizing medical records. Stay current with dental terminology and emerging technologies to enhance clinical assistance and patient care.

Qualifications



Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix or Epic; familiarity with Eaglesoft is a plus. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques. Skilled in taking X-rays (including digital imaging) and operating 3D scanners; certification in radiography preferred. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices is highly desirable; experience assisting with pediatric patients is a plus. Ability to perform vital signs assessment and recognize medical emergencies promptly. Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients about their oral health needs. Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dental procedures. Ability to work efficiently in four-handed dentistry setups alongside dentists for seamless patient care delivery.
