Job Title:

Dental Assistant II

Reports To:

Dentist/Dental Manager

FLSA Status:

Non-Exempt

Summary:

Support dental care delivery by preparing treatment room, patients, instruments, and materials: passing instruments and materials; performing procedures in compliance with the dental practice act

under the supervision of the

dentist.



Duties and Responsibilities

include the following:
1. Prepares treatment room for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
2. Prepares patients for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient.
3. Collects all medical records and medical history
4. Takes vitals and triage information prior to the dentist entering the treatment room.
5. Provides information to patients under the supervision of the dentist, by answering questions.
6. Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist's access, suctioning, and passing of instruments.
7. Provides diagnostic information by exposing and preparing radiographic studies, pouring, trimming, and polishing study cast.
8. Keeping up-to-date information on

ALL

referrals to other doctors.
9. Follow up on medical requests to and from other providers making sure the requested information has been received prior to patients' appointment.
10. Fabricating of temporary restoration material; cleaning and polishing of removal appliances.
11. Help the dentist manage medical emergencies by maintaining up-to-date CPR Certifications, emergency drugs and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.
12. Under supervision of the dentist, give post-op instruction(s), explain treatment, oral hygiene, and plaque control instructions.
13. Document dental care/services and maintain accurate patient information on patients' charts.
14. Maintain patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
15. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
16. Adheres to all infection control policies to endure safety of employee and patients.
17. Keep maintenance log of

ALL

dental equipment to ensure operation per manufactures' instructions.
18. Must stay abreast of

ALL

work orders and repairs
19. Maintains dental supplies inventory by checking stock daily to anticipate needed supplies; and verify orders and receipts of supplies.
20. Assist with recall and maintaining patient follow-up appointment.
21. Other duties as assigned.

7. Making Temporaries (CRNS)
8. Knowledge of insurance, billing, scheduling of patients, and answering the phone

Education/Experience


High School Diploma or equivalent. We strongly prefer a DAII; however, we will consider a DAI.
