Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for use following strict infection control protocols.
Assist dentists during various procedures such as restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments by providing chairside support.
Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging, including 3D scans when applicable, adhering to proper safety standards and aseptic techniques.
Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring accurate documentation of treatment notes, vital signs, medical history, and dental terminology.
Educate patients on post-treatment care and oral hygiene practices to promote ongoing health and wellness.
Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and maintaining organized medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Assist with infection control procedures and maintain a sterile environment by following established protocols for aseptic technique and anatomy knowledge.
Conduct vital signs assessments when necessary to monitor patient health status prior to procedures.
Participate in four-handed dentistry practices to optimize workflow efficiency alongside the dental team.
Stay current with advancements in general dentistry techniques, pediatric dentistry practices, and technical skills related to dental assisting.
Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred; familiarity with dental assisting duties is essential.
Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix; experience with Dexis or similar platforms is a plus.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality and proper handling of medical records and documentation.
Hands-on experience with X-ray procedures, medical imaging (including 3D scanners).
Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, infection control standards, and anatomy knowledge is crucial for success in this role.
Certification or training in chairside assisting, infection control techniques, or radiography is advantageous.
