Responsibilities

Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental materials, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly to promote infection control and aseptic technique. Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry by handing instruments, managing suction devices, and taking x-rays with precision. Operate dental imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and medical imaging tools to capture accurate visuals for diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage patient records by updating medical documentation, medical records, and dental charts using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft while maintaining HIPAA compliance for patient privacy. Take vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration to monitor patient health before procedures. Provide chairside assisting with excellent anatomy knowledge and dental terminology to ensure smooth workflow during treatments. Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, confirming patient information, and managing medical coding for billing purposes. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote ongoing health. Maintain infection control standards through proper sterilization techniques and adherence to OSHA guidelines. Assist with medical documentation related to pediatrics or specialized treatments like endodontics or prosthodontics as needed. Support the team with administrative tasks such as inventory management of dental supplies and ensuring compliance with all safety protocols.

Experience

Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment is required; familiarity with general dentistry procedures is essential. Prior experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly preferred. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques is mandatory to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. Experience assisting with pediatric dentistry procedures is a plus, along with familiarity in handling medical imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners. Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding enhances your ability to support clinical workflows effectively. Demonstrated ability to perform chairside assisting confidently while supporting multiple specialties such as prosthodontics or endodontics is advantageous.
