Duties
Assist the dentist during a variety of procedures, including restorative and cosmetic treatments
Take digital X-rays and maintain accurate patient records
Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms
Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-op care
Ensure a smooth, efficient flow of the clinical schedule
Support front office tasks as needed
In Detail:
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and implants. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and setting up necessary supplies. Take digital X-rays and manage patient records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Gather vital signs and medical history information from patients to support comprehensive care. Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, managing suction devices, and supporting four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency. Maintain infection control standards by adhering to strict sterilization procedures and infection prevention protocols. Assist with medical imaging procedures and operate advanced equipment like 3D scanners. Support the dental reception area by scheduling appointments and managing patient flow smoothly when needed. Ensure all medical documentation and records are up-to-date, complete, and compliant with privacy laws. Participate in ongoing training on dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, medical coding, and updates in dental technology to stay current with industry best practices.
Requirements
Expanded Duties Dental Assistant (EDDA) (Preferred)
Radiography certification (Preferred)
1+ years of experience preferred, but we're open to training the right candidate
Familiarity with Dentrix is a plus
