What We Need

The College of Humanities, Education and the Arts is seeking a

Dean's Assistant.

This crucial role provides direct support to the Dean and plays a key role in advancing the operations of the college. This position is central to ensuring smooth daily operations, effective communication, and strong collaboration across faculty, staff, students, and external partners.


What You'll Do


------------------

Provide executive support to the Dean, including managing calendars, meetings, retreats, travel, and correspondence. Oversee college budgets, financial tracking, and reporting in coordination with Finance and Academic Affairs. Support faculty recruitment, onboarding, contracts, and promotions; maintain accurate files and records. Supervise office staff and student employees, providing leadership and professional development. Plan and coordinate college events, advisory board meetings, and donor/alumni relations activities. Serve as liaison with Facilities and CIS for building projects, operations, and office moves. Maintain compliance with accreditation requirements and prepare reports and evaluations. Draft and distribute communications on behalf of the Dean and college. Manage records, data systems, and project planning to ensure effective operations.

What You Bring


------------------

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Minimum of 2 years of executive or administrative assistant experience, with event planning skills. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills; ability to handle confidential information. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with databases or ERP systems (Workday preferred). Mission Alignment: A personal commitment to Christian faith, enthusiasm about supporting SPU's mission , alignment with the University's Statement of Faith , and a willingness to accept the lifestyle standards of the Christian community. Preferred: 4-8 years of office administration in higher education; supervisory experience; familiarity with accreditation and university governance.

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated starting compensation for this position is

$33.17 hourly

($69,000) annually. Placement within the salary structure may be adjusted based on the selected candidate's qualifications, skills, and relevant experience, consistent with university compensation practices and internal equity.
