JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY



The Dean of Health Professions is the instructional leader for one of several academic areas of the College. This position supervises full-time and adjunct faculty, as well assigned staff. This position provides leadership in development and implementation of academic programs and interdisciplinary activities throughout Academic Affairs. The Dean refines and develops strong communication mechanisms within the academic area as well as with other areas of the college and throughout the community. The position solves complex problems in an open and collaborative manner, facilitates program accreditation processes, the review of existing programs, and the development of new program offerings. This position works closely with faculty, area healthcare providers, state and national healthcare organizations, and community members.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:



Provides administrative direction and instructional leadership for designated Academic Affairs Area. Supervises faculty and staff for designated program areas, including Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Health Data Information Management, and other allied health professions. Collaborates with other academic deans, faculty, and staff to develop systems that support learning and coordinates efforts to refine the packaging and delivery of course offerings. Provides leadership in the development and implementation of interdisciplinary activities throughout Academic Affairs. Uses a variety of communication approaches to exchange information with faculty, Academic Affairs staff and other offices throughout the college. Conducts and oversees evaluation processes for personnel and programs consistent with program accreditation standards and College processes. Participates in the hiring and orientation of new faculty, both full and part-time, with the intention of creating a team of diverse, high quality instructional personnel. Participates in community and civic organizations. Assists the Vice President for Academic Affairs with faculty and student issues. Coordinates with other areas of the College to refine systems related to the technology-enhanced delivery of course offerings. Coordinates the annual budget for designated area. Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



Knowledge of instructional development procedures. Knowledge of monitoring and evaluating programs. Knowledge of healthcare program accreditation processes including ACEN, CAAHEP, CAHIIM, as well as Nebraska State Board of Nursing standards. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other college supported systems. Skill in planning and organizing as well as ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Skill in supervising, training, and evaluating staff. Communications skills, both written and oral; excellent spelling, grammar and editing skills. Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and to handle sensitive situations. Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment. Ability to train, evaluate, mentor and direct employees and managers to meet desired objectives. Ability to manage by example. Must possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain professionalism, patience and understanding in stressful situations. Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



Master's degree in Education Administration or related field. Five (5) years of job-related work experience. Equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience will be considered. Ability to travel between campuses for meetings or position responsibilities. Must pass background check.
