Key Duties of a Direct Care Worker
Personal Care Assistance
Help with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
Assist with feeding or preparing meals based on dietary needs.
Health Monitoring
Observe and report changes in the client's physical or mental condition.
Household Tasks
Perform light housekeeping duties such as laundry, cleaning, and dishwashing.
Assist with grocery shopping or running errands.
Companionship and Emotional Support
Engage clients in conversation, hobbies, or recreational activities.
Provide emotional support and companionship to reduce isolation.
Transportation Assistance
Help clients get to appointments, activities, or other necessary destinations (if transportation is part of their duties).
Safety and Advocacy
Ensure the living environment is safe and accessible.
Advocate for the client's needs or report concerns to supervisors or family members.
