The Distributed Control System (DCS) Technician at Delrin is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrade of DCS hardware and configuration and upgrade of software and logic used to monitor and control the Chemical and Finishing Area processes. This is a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation at Delrin - Washington Works.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of a DCS Technician include working with Area Control Systems Engineers to maintain and troubleshoot the DCS system. This involves monitoring performance, performing preventive work, diagnosing issues, and addressing issues as they arise within the Process Control Network. They also work on process optimization by analyzing data, and collaborating with operations, maintenance, and technical. Managing alarm systems to ensure timely responses and developing alarm management strategies is another key duty. Additionally, they support projects like DCS upgrades, provide technical assistance during plant shutdowns, and maintain accurate documentation while training others. Ensuring safety and compliance with regulations and industry standards is crucial.
Requirements and qualifications
A successful candidate typically needs an Associate's degree or technical diploma in a related field and at least 3-5 years of experience with DCS in an industrial setting.
