Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Capacity Install Technician to join our growing team within infrastructure operations. You will work in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks and assist in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale our network. You will launch server technologies and solve diverse networking impairments. You will quickly and accurately assess a wide range of infrastructure issues, which requires a good understanding of computers, servers, switches and various networking devices from both a hardware and software perspective and a demonstrated willingness to learn and apply new technology.



To be successful in this role you should possess technical aptitude, written and oral communications skills and the ability to deal effectively with people in a wide variety of situations. In addition, you must possess strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability. You will be able to leverage your experience exercising high levels of initiative, judgment, and diplomacy.



Logical access to the AWS GovCloud region will be restricted to Amazon employees who are U.S. Citizens. (GovCloud may NOT be accessed from outside of the United States)




Key job responsibilities

Responsibilities - Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projects.



Carry a pager/cell phone for communication, information, emergency, and on-call situations

Up to 20% travel within geographical work area is required. Some travel outside traditional work area may be requested, including internationally.

Install, test and troubleshoot fiber optic and copper cabling, including patch panels and patch cords.

Linux/Unix Administration



Physical requirements Any physical requirements are expectations with reasonable accommodations.



The ability to sit in front of computer for entire scheduled 8-hour shift with appropriate breaks while maintaining a high level of alertness and attention to detail

Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 41 pounds or more

Walk job sites in uneven terrain

Work at heights and from ladders

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

1+ years of relevant experience in data center operations, IT support, or a similar technical field 1+ years of troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve undefined technical Willingness to participate in a primary responder rotation and support 24/7 data center operations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


----------------------------

o An Associate's degree, technical certification, or equivalent professional or military experience in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, networking engineering, etc.) o Experience working in a Data Center environment o Understanding of network design, protocols and troubleshooting o Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system o Understanding of in-depth hardware knowledge (e.g., PCIe)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $50,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $113,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
